I keep the books, file the taxes, and answer the state so it never has to reach you. One person holding the whole money and paperwork side of your business, from the day it opens to the day it closes.
She forgot one annual report, and the state closed her business.
She called me to help her put it back together. Nobody had told her the report was due, because the notice went to an address she no longer checked. That is the loud version of what I prevent. The quiet version is far more common: you cannot say where the money went last month, so you are guessing at every decision that depends on knowing.

I do everything from open your business to close your business.
The first question I ask is whether you want me looking over what you are doing, or doing it. Both are real answers. Most people who start at the first one end up at the second.

However far behind it is. Three years of unfiled returns does not shock me and it will not get a lecture.
Before you leave you will know what I need from you and when the work is coming back.
Step two
I take it off your desk
The books, the filings, the returns, the letters from the state. You send me what I ask for once and then it stops being something you carry around.
Step three
You get told what it means
Every month, in plain English. Where the money went, what it is telling you, and what I would move. Anyone at your bank who needs something can call me directly.

Hi, I’m Cynthia.
Cynthia Windrow, founder
I learned this working for a woman who ran her own accounting firm. She set my business up for me before I ever set one up for anybody else, and I have been doing it around Murfreesboro since 2006. Cynthia’s Consulting is veteran-owned and woman-owned.
Most of the people I work with are very good at what they do and lost on the money side of it. That is the whole job. I like watching a business owner breathe again, and almost nobody gets to do that until somebody else is holding the numbers.
I will tell you plainly that I am not for everybody. If you need to check behind me, we will both be miserable. What I am good at is being the person you hand it to and stop thinking about.
Everything here gets done decently and in order, effectively and efficiently. That is what I stand on, and I want it to reach you that way too.
